Priority Mail shipping is based on distance (zones) from our zip code (98368) the same way as UPS and FedEX calculate rates, so we have two rate charts, local and long-distance. The greatest savings is for customers in the Midwest or Eastern states and for larger orders in ANY AREA, as we are able to utilize our shipping boxes much more efficiently.
Whenever possible, to avoid raising prices on our bulbs and plants, we use "Flat Rate" boxes as a more affordable alternative to regular Priority Mail, meaning that your order might arrive in more than one box. Please keep in mind that larger orders are more economical for us to process and mail, plus we effectively offer a generous discount on delivery on orders over $100, so consider combining an order with a friend, split the delivery cost and you both save money.
Washington and Oregon
Orders up to $99.99 - $10.95
From $100 to $249.99 - $13.95
Over $250 - $16.95 (Maximum cost to you)
Other "lower 48" States, plus Alaska
(long distance delivery)

From $100 to $249.99 - $15.95
Over $250 - $19.95 (Maximum cost to you)
NOTE: The post office very quietly changed the zone charts just before Christmas 2011 which made previously economical rates for mailing gifts much higher than many people expected. Postage increases are a public process, manipulating the zone charts to increase revenue is not - and because our catalog was already printed - it took us by surprise as well. We are still absorbing the increased costs for shipping larger orders but did tweak the chart to reflect more closely the new postal rates.
