Lily Bulb Description

Classification: Asiatic Hybrid Lily Bulb (USDA Zones 3-10, lows to -40° F.)

Stock # 1003 - 'Blackberry's Snack' - Asiatic Lily Bulb

Excelling in our trials, the backdrop of the rich, deep wide leaves of ‘Blackberry's Snack' really set these flowers off and is a perfect mixer with any of the other Tango varieties. Named for Dianna’s little black Pygmy Goat ‘Blackberry’, this lily is dedicated to all those goats out there that love to munch on “mom’s” lilies. Even at 80 pounds, Blackberry could squeeze through a hole that an 8 pound cat would have trouble with. This name came to mind after a long time customer called in April of 2010 reporting that her goats had eaten her lily garden (Hors d’oeurves) while awaiting their regular feeding. While deer will usually only eat buds, goats take the plant to the ground.

This wonderful addition to the Tango Series is a real looker. A bit taller than ‘Netty’s Pride’, the central coloration of 'Blackberry's Snack' is more of a black-purple than the black-raspberry of Netty. Contrasted by the buff-ivory petal tips this is a fine, complimentary growing companion to ‘Netty’s Pride. Perfect mixed with any of the other Tango varieties for the ultimate in fine Goat dining. For all those goats in your garden, Bon Appetit, salad dressing optional.

Bulb Size - Our standard for bulbs of this lily cultivar ranges from Premium-size" (16/18 cm) to Exhibition-size" (over 20 cm). Click here for details.
