Classification: Oriental Hybrid Lily (USDA Zones 5-9, colder climates w/winter mulch.)
One of the brightest pinks we carry, 'Acapulco' was originally chosen for the cut flower market, but just happens to be a terrific garden plant too. In the commercial greenhouse, its color is medium pink, but garden grown plants are more intensely colored. Mature bulbs, by their breeding nature, tend to flower smaller than other varieties, but produce 3-5 blooms the first year, and many more when established. Very fragrant. 3 to 4 Feet. July.
Economy-size, package of three (3) bulbs.
These are generally smaller sized bulbs than we normally use to fill orders. All are flowering size, that after winter harvest and sorting, are usually planted back in late March to supplement the following year's fall crop.
Bulb size varies; we grade lilies for Minimum Size, not "Top Size" like other companies, so some may be quite a bit larger than others, even in these Economy 3-packs. You will find that our bulbs overall run larger than the standard dutch grading system to insure that they are indeed "flowering size".
"Dear Dianna,. . .even though yours [your bulbs] were supposedly smaller 'on-sale' ones, they were perfect and robust and bigger than any bulbs I've gotten through several mail order companies." [Email Dec. 8th 2008 following purchase of our "scratch and dent" bulbs last fall.]
