Lily Bulb Description

Flower Description: One of the many lilies bred from 'Star Gazer', we consider 'Mero Star' to far surpass them all including its world famous mother. During our often cold and wet springs here in the Pacific Northeset, we have found where 'Star Gazer' would often struggle, 'Mero Star' would thrive, never failing to impress. Leaning more to the rose-pink tones, 'Mero Star' has proven to be far more color fast and does not fade to the muddy brown that 'Star Gazer' is know for, thus she give you even longer lasting beauty in your garden.

Introduced in 1975, the true 'Star Gazer' from Leslie Woodriff has all but disappeared in commerce but the name lives on attached to several similar clones. For this reason, we have discontinued growing the original 'Star Gazer' as it has become impossible to find planting stock true to name. It is unfortunate that the “jobbers” have taken this name for use for just about anything that is dark pink to red. ‘Star Gazer’ has also become synonymous with the entire division of Oriental Lilies, no matter what the color or individual variety name. Walk into any florist shop and ask for ‘Star Gazer’ lilies and you will be shown every pink or red Oriental lily in the shop. On the other hand, anything white is “Casablanca”.

As with the original 'Star Gazer', 'Mero Star' normally reaches 3 feet but at times can hit 4. July Flowering. Fragrant.
