Flower Description: The word ‘Bon Bini’ means "welcome" in the Papimiento language. The language itself more describes this flower that “welcome” does. A crazy mix of words from the Arawak Indian dialect, Spanish, Dutch, along with a confusing mixture of African dialects with a little Portuguese, English, and a smidge of French thrown in, makes for one crazy language, almost as crazy as this ‘Bon Bini’ and it’s crazy color combination. Crazy yes, but it all works!
This is a very striking as well as attention grabbing lily to say the least. The delicate pink tracing outlining or "halo" in the center of each petal tends to fade in hot, direct sun. In our cool, NW climate, it has held up in full sun to light afternoon shade. In the warmer states, it is best planted in dappled sun throughout the day or light afternoon shade. 3 to 4 Feet or taller. July Flowering. Fragrant.
