Flower Description Photographed in our display garden for their March 2003 issue, Sunset Magazine featured this lovely Oriental-Trumpet hybrid for its garden worthiness. Flowers are out to upfacing, bright lemon with paler petal tips and good substance. Full grown Redwing Blackbirds perch on top of the buds, waiting for their turn at the feeders, and outside of a few puncture marks from "toenails," these sturdy lilies are not harmed in any way. Lingering, sweet fragrance, long blooming. 4 to 5 Feet and Taller. July/August.
This photo was taken in the trials garden where 'Conca d' Or' as well as LeVern Frieman's 'Scheherazade', in the upper right background, are used as "control" plants along with other well proven varieties. We judge new selections harshly against the proven winners. New selections that do not stand out while growing along side the proven winners, become food for farm animals here. Unfortunately, those same "feed quality" varieties often end up on other web sites offered as garden lilies where they fail in short order.
