'Geoduck' - Trumpet Lily Bulb
Classification: Trumpet/Aurelian Hybrid Lily (USDA Zones 5-10, the colder climates of this range require winter mulching)

B&D Lilies' EXCLUSIVE!

The Geoduck (pronounced Gooey duck) is probably the most famous resident of the Hood Canal. Visitors to Washington are often led to believe it to be the "official" Washington State Bird. In actuality, it is the worldÕs largest burrowing clam, with reported specimens weighing up to 15 pounds and with a lifespan of 150 years. Though our 'Geoduck' will not weigh in at 15 pounds, and does not yet having a 100-year track record, we have marveled at its grace, beauty, and fragrance for many years. Golden nectary furrows and deeper pink ruffled petal edges accent a soft pastel- pink base color of this garden gem. This breeding line, started by the late Don Egger, has provided by far the most beautiful trumpets every developed; ÔLord Samuel HoodÕ, ÔLilliwaupÕ, ÔChief ChetzemokaÕ ÔDuckabushÕ and now ÔGeoduckÕ will remain a lasting tribute to his work. 5 Feet. July.

B&D Lilies' EXCLUSIVE!

It had been Bob's dream for a quarter century to select a lily worthy to carry the name of a very tiny, former Indian fishing village tucked away in a sheltered inlet on Highway 101. This is the most colorful and most dramatic lily of our Hood Canal series. The deep, rich pink buds open to surprise you with creamy golden-yellow centers and rich raspberry-pink petal edges. 'Lilliwaup' (Clone #05-100) is a real "eye-popper." July.

'Green Tea' - Trumpet Lily Bulb
Classification: Oriental-Trumpet Hybrid (USDA Zones 5-9, colder climates w/winter mulch.)

(Stock #L-6012) Many of our 'seasoned' customers will remember the old 'Green Magic Strain' developed in the late 50's by Jan de Graaff. With the demise de Graaff's nursery, the original seed parents of his magnificent strain were lost and with their loss it was not possible to continue the true strain.

Available now in very limited numbers, 'Green Tea' is a selection that is the best of the best that de Graaff's strain had to offer. Where the old strain was known for its lovely green centers, 'Green Tea' displays its rarely found in lilies green color on the petal reverse making it more desirable in the garden. Part of the breeding line contributing its color to our ever-popular 'Emerald Angel' 'Green Tea' has more than withstood the test of time and is destined to become a garden classic.

'Yelloween' has reached a whopping 7 and 8 feet during cold and rainy springs in our garden. 12 to 15 buds or more on established plants, and yes, that is really fog in the background which is typical of our NW weather in July and August. 4 to 5 feet. 'Triumphator' - Easter Lily x Oriental Hybrid Lily

Flower Description: From the latin triumphus, meaning a triumphal procession or celebration of victory, ‘Triumphator’ certainly is a victory in the pursuits of breeding excellence. Unlike the days of Rome though, you will not need to offer sacrifice at the alter of Jupiter following planting, just stand back and marvel at the parade of victory in your garden as ‘Triumphator’ comes into bloom.

A lovely blending of L. longiflorum (Easter Lily) crossed with Oriental lilies, this amazing clone has the classic shape of the Easter Lily species, but heavy flower texture and disposition of an Oriental lily bulb. The first of its kind, 'Triumphator' has yet to meet a worthy challenger in others of similar breeding. 'Triumphator' carries a lighter scent than do pure oriental hybrids. The flower centers are deep pink, almost maroon in our cool northwest climate. Planting in bright shade in warmer areas will help deepen the color, but staking may be required if the stems begin to lean towards the sun. 3 to 4 feet. July Flowering. Fragrant.

'Ercolano' - Scented Asiatic Lily Bulb
Classification: Longiflorum-Asiatic Hybrid Lily (USDA Zones 3-10, lows to -40° F.)

Lily Bulb #L-5105 - Large flowered white lily blending to a greenish-yellow throat. Just a few speckles on the inner third of the petals. In cooler areas such as the Pacific Northwest, flowers tend to be a little more creamy in color. 3 Feet. Late June.

Important: These are FRESH-dug bulbs from our Pacific Northwest fields in October, not the "pre-cooled" leftovers from the greenhouse forcing trade so commonly found on web-only marketers throughout the summer. Lily bulbs planted in late summer or early fall straight from cold storage will not have time to flower properly and mature their foliage before cold weather, resulting in bulb loss over winter and a bare spot in your garden the next summer. Only plant fresh dug lily bulbs October to through Late April, for superior results in your garden. 'Zeba' - Species x Oriental Hybrid

Flower Description: Another first in lily breeding, 'Zeba' is the first lily to be introduced out of the lovely 'Kushi Maya'. 'Kushi Maya' came about by crossing L. nepalense with an Oriental. 'Zeba' is the result of 'Kushi Maya' crossed back to another Oriental. The down side is that the breeder decided to discontinue 'Kushi' while introducing 'Zeba'. All is not lost though as we do have a few bulbs in the field to scale of 'Kushi', and one day she will be back.

'Zeba' is not only in a class by herself in breeding, but is also in a class by herself in the garden. Our first bulbs are coming directly from the breeder for spring delivery, but after that, they will be from our own field production. These large white flowers carry a nearly red-black center with chocolate nectary. Growing to about 4 feet when established, this is a Late July, Early August bloomer. Light Fragrance.

Trumpet Hybrid Lily Bulb - 'Seventy-six Trombones'
Classification: Oriental-Trumpet Hybrid (USDA Zones 5-9, colder climates w/winter mulch.)

NEW! Here's a large group of mixed Trumpet bulbs, produced from seed, mostly in shades of icy pink to deep rose-magenta, some with yellow throats or pale picotee edges. A few whitish L. regale types and golden yellow to apricot colors also were produced from the open cross, but at least half of the field bulbs were light to dark pink this summer. Many of these could be selected out for further propagation as a nice clonal selection, but we can't keep them all, so you benefit from a diverse group of new trumpet hybrids for your garden at reasonable prices. You will find a good number of upfacing types in this mix.

Great as background plants and marvelous as a heavily fragrant border in July, these lily bulbs will probably require staking the second or third year if not grown in full sun. To keep from damaging the underground bulb, put a short marker next to each lily that can be later removed for a taller support if need be. We prefer using "rebar" found in any hardware store for areas that are mulched with bark, for when the iron rod rusts, the stake is not as noticeable in our landscape, but any sturdy stake at least 5 feet tall (above ground) will do. 4 to 6 feet tall at maturity, July bloom. NOTE: PRICE IS FOR PACKAGE OF 3 BULBS.
