Lily Bulb Description
Unscented. 3+ Feet. June flowering.
A wonderful new “reddish-black” flowered lily, 'Secret Kiss' is actually a very, very dark plum red in color. There are no truly black lilies as others advertise, but the variety 'Night Rider' comes close. Compared to ''Night Rider', the petals are more open and the STEMS are black in color and blooms about a week or so earlier, however the red tones make it easier to place within the garden. A great statement in the garden when paired with white lilies such as 'Sweet Surrender' or 'Eyeliner', the contrast with the white flowers make 'Secret Kiss' really pop into view.
Our photo was taken in our production field in full sun which shows the PLUM-RED tones of 'Secret Kiss' rather than the jobber photos, making it appear to be black. In light shade, it could appear to be black in color, but computer monitors never come close to the beauty of the actual flower. Dianna recommends full sun, because darker shaded lilies tend to blend into the background when planted in shade. This Mid to Late May bloomer has no fragrance and the flowers are held on 3 foot stems.
