Lily Bulb Description
Stock number L6276 - Aurelian type 'Paula Marie' might best be described as an heirloom lily; though its origins are Modern. The sumptuous 5 inch bowl-shaped flowers with their light, captivating scent, make 'Paula Marie' seem like a royal treasure, hidden away for centuries, that has just now been rediscovered.
Graceful, grey-green banana-shaped buds offer a hint of mystery - what color will it be? When first opened, these sun fast, light lemon-yellow blooms have a hint of green while the gently scrolled petal tips invite the gardener to look further into its bewitching inner depths.
Shorter pedicels perfectly display these unique flowers in refined umbellate form atop sturdy, upright stems neatly clothed in broad olive green foliage. Grows in full sun, though a bit of light shade will enhance the quiet tint of greenish-lemon in your garden.
An enchanting introduction, we believe 'Paula Marie' will become a stand-alone specimen near the front of your garden border, with the wonder of its blooms anticipated more and more each year. Slower to mature into tall stem 'Paula Marie' blooms mid-July in it's "birth" State of Wyoming. The breeder is only releasing a few large, flowering size bulbs for planting this fall.
As with all Trumpet and Aurelian types, mulch for the winter after the ground is well frozen and pull away the mulch in spring as the soil thaws. 3 to 4 feet.
